Teen Arrested Following Foot Pursuit; Gun Recovered

On September 17th, 2025, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were conducting a directed patrol focusing on addressing gun violence in the City of Kalamazoo. The intention of this operation was to locate and apprehend those who are illegally possessing firearms. During the course of the investigation, KVET / CRT observed a subject illegally concealing a firearm on his person in the 2100 block of Inverness Ln in the City of Kalamazoo.
When contact was attempted with the suspect, he immediately fled on foot. During the foot pursuit, the suspect discarded a firearm. He was apprehended a short distance away. The firearm that had been discarded by the suspect was equipped with an extended magazine.
The 15-year-old male was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo Juvenile Home on the following charges: Weapons – Carrying Concealed, Resisting / Obstructing Police, and Felony Firearm.
