The Training Division is responsible for the initial training, continuing education, and professional development of KDPS’ 300+ sworn and non-sworn employees.
Given the complexity of the Public Safety Model which requires combining police, fire and EMS skills into a single profession, the Training Division uses a variety of methods to train our staff to include classroom instruction, practical instruction, and an E-Learning management system to provide quality instruction to our employees.
Training topics are mandated by law, required by departmental policy, or needed by staff to maximize their ability to provide professional services and keep our community safe. The Training Division is tasked with promoting ethical and courteous behavior, enhancing the professional performance of duty, and cultivating an appreciation of equity, diversity, and inclusion through education and training.
