KDPS opened the application process for the position of Public Safety Officer. The application process will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

On June 17th, 2025, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT,) apprehended a suspect who had multiple felony warrants for his arrest. The information regarding his whereabouts was obtained from a tip sent through Kalamazoo Silent Observer.
The suspect had been located in the 1000 block of Claymoor Dr in the Township of Oshtemo. Upon contact with the suspect, he fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, he was arrested without any further incident. He was found to be concealing a loaded firearm on his person. The firearm had been reported stolen to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety in 2025.
The 21-year-old male suspect was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail and will be facing multiple felony charges stemming from this case. The suspect’s name will not be released at this time.
