CRT investigation results in arrest for illegal firearm possession

On April 16th, 2026, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) concluded an investigation of illegal weapons possession in the 1400 block of Egleston Ave.

The suspect in the investigation, a 21-year-old Kalamazoo City resident, was contacted in the 1700 block of Miller Road and fled on foot. The suspect was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm on his person. The suspect in the investigation is a convicted felon and cannot possess or carry a concealed firearm.  

A subsequent search of the suspect residence yielded the seizure of a semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine, a Glock handgun with a high-capacity magazine, and two additional firearms. The 21-year-old suspect was arrested on scene and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on numerous illegal weapons offenses.
