Carlin Andrew Barcelo, 22, was arrested Saturday morning in connection with the April 17, 2026, shooting death of Telonn Tyree Horton, 29. Barcelo was arraigned April 20, 2026, on charges of open murder, felony firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. Bond was denied by Honorable Judge Kathleen P. Hemingway. The shooting occurred around 3:06 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of Davis Street. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found Mr. Horton unresponsive in the area. Despite lifesaving efforts, he died from his injuries. KDPS extends its condolences to Mr. Horton’s loved ones. After the shooting, Barcelo fled in a Honda SUV. Officers used Flock and Fusus technology to quickly verify information provided by witnesses pertaining to the vehicle. Later that night, a resident in the 15000 block of Mann Road in Augusta reported an abandoned vehicle and a suspicious subject. The vehicle was identified as the Honda SUV used in the escape. A coordinated search followed involving multiple agencies, drones, police canines, and property searches, much of it conducted in inclement weather. Officers were able to contain Barcelo in the area, and he was located and arrested early Saturday morning.
