Suspect Arraigned, Bond Denied in Fatal June 12 Shooting

The suspect in the June 12 fatal shooting of 47-year-old Sariah Robinson has been formally arraigned and ordered held without bond.

Robert H. Lofton, 55, was arraigned Monday, June 23, and is facing the following charges:

  • Open Murder (MCL 750.316-C – Statutory Short Form)
  • Felony Firearm – Two counts (MCL 750.227b-A)
  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm (MCL 750.224f-A)
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon (MCL 750.227)

Mrs. Robinson was located by Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers with gunshot wounds and later died at the hospital. Mr. Lofton, who was known to the victim, sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound as officers approached him later that day.
