Search Warrant Uncovers Fentanyl, Stolen Firearm, and More

On July 1st, 2026, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) executed a search warrant in the 2000 block of Elkerton Ave, in the Township of Kalamazoo, following an investigation into drug sales.
The suspect was contacted while he was seated in a vehicle in the 5400 block of Gull Rd and detained without incident. A search of his vehicle yielded heroin / fentanyl and evidence of drug sales. Following his arrest, a search of his residence was conducted which yielded a stolen firearm, heroin / fentanyl, evidence of drug manufacturing and distribution, and US currency, which is believed to be profits of drug sales.
The suspect, a 24-year-old male, was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on the following charges:
- Possession with Intent to Deliver - Heroin / Fentanyl
- Felony Firearm
- Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm
- Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition
- Receiving & Concealing – Stolen Firearm
The suspect has been previously convicted of felony charges and cannot legally possess a firearm or ammunition. Additionally, he was released from prison in 2024 for weapon and drug related offenses. On July 6th, 2026, the suspect, identified as Hakiem Blanchard, was arraigned in the 8th District Court. He was issued a $250,000 cash or surety bond.
