A Kalamazoo man has been arraigned in connection with a shooting that occurred during a private event in the 600 block of West Maple Street Sunday evening.

Pharrell Norman Stacy, a 22-year-old Kalamazoo resident, has been charged with:

  • Two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder
  • Three counts of Felony Firearm
  • One count of Discharge of a Weapon in a Building Causing Injury

He was arraigned today before the Honorable Richard A. Santoni and issued a $100,000 cash/surety bond.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) responded to the incident on April 12, 2026, at approximately 5:16 p.m.

Investigators determined a private event was taking place when a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation inside near the lobby. During the disturbance, gunfire was discharged inside the building.

Officers arrived to find a 25-year-old male victim outside the main entrance suffering gunshot wounds to both legs. A second 25-year-old male victim was located inside the building with gunshot wounds to the chest and lower body. Both victims were transported to local hospital where one was later released and the other was listed in stable condition.

Officers quickly formed response teams and conducted a systematic search, where officers located Stacy hiding inside a lower-level closet. He complied with commands and was taken into custody without further incident. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about it is asked to contact the KDPS Criminal Investigations Division at 269-337-8139.
