KVET Arrests Suspect After Shots Fired from Moving Vehicle

Published on December 16, 2025

On December 12th, 2025, at approximately 1500 hours, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were conducting a directed patrol in the 1900 block of Gull Road in Kalamazoo Township to combat illegal weapons offenses and quality of life issues. While conducting surveillance of the area a male was observed firing three shots from a moving vehicle, across numerous lanes of traffic into the parking lot of the Gull Road Party Store located at 1930 Gull Road. CRT investigators quickly transitioned their attention to the suspect vehicle, which was traveling westbound on Gull Road into the city of Kalamazoo.

KDPS Operations division assisted CRT Investigators with a traffic stop in the 800 block of Porter Street, where contact was made with the shooting suspect vehicle. Two males were detained, and the firearm used in the incident was located inside the vehicle. KDPS Operations personnel and Kalamazoo Township Police responded to the shooting scene to contact potential victims of the incident and preserve evidence of the crime. Thankfully no one was injured during the incident. Additional evidence of the shooting was collected on scene by KDPS lab personnel.

On Saturday December 13th, 2025, 22-year-old Kalamazoo County resident Rayshawn Pratcher was arraigned on numerous weapons offenses in connection to the shooting incident. Pratcher was issued a one-million-dollar bond by Honorable Judge Jones.

CRT thanks our KDPS partners in the Operations division and the Kalamazoo Township Police Department with their assistance on the rapidly developing incident and arrest of a dangerous individual who chose to recklessly discharge a firearm from a moving vehicle during the afternoon hours of a very busy area of Kalamazoo County.
