KDPS to Host Recruitment Open House August 21

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) will host its next Recruitment Open House on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event offers prospective applicants an inside look at the department, its personnel, and the opportunities available for those considering a career in public safety.
Attendees will hear a brief presentation from KDPS recruiters, tour a public safety station, and be able to ask questions directly to recruiters. The evening will also feature demonstrations from several specialty units, including the K9 Unit, SWAT Team and Crime Lab.
Seats are limited, and registration is required by 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18. Applicants who have not attended a KDPS Open House are strongly encouraged to participate.
To register for the event:
- Attendees must complete the Public Safety Officer pre-qualification questionnaire (only if you have not previously done so) by texting JOINKDPS to 269-291-0199. Select APPLY, then choose option A) PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER.
- They must also use the link provided to complete the Open House registration form.
Once registered, a KDPS recruiter will conduct a background check and provide further details, including the event location, what to bring and any additional instructions.
