KDPS Responds to Domestic Assault Involving Firearm on Flower Street

On November 2, 2025, at approximately 9 p.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Flower Street regarding a report of a felonious domestic assault involving a firearm.

Upon arrival, officers located a 51-year-old female victim who had sustained injuries to include being physically struck by the firearm. She was treated at a local hospital for her injuries. During the investigation, officers determined that the suspect, who is the victim’s domestic partner, was still inside the residence with the firearm used in the assault.

KDPS officers secured the residence and attempted to contact the suspect but received no response. The Kalamazoo Metro SWAT and Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team were activated while officers obtained a search warrant for the residence, suspect, and firearm. Additionally, Once the warrant was secured, the 46-year-old male suspect surrendered to officers without incident. A subsequent search of the home resulted in the recovery of the firearm believed to have been used in the assault.

The suspect was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on related charges.
