KDPS Launches Investigation After Remains Found Near Milham Park

Published on November 13, 2025

Detectives from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) have launched an investigation after discovering skeletal remains in a wooded area near Milham Park.

On Nov. 12, 2025, around 5 p.m., KDPS officers were alerted to possible human remains in a wooded section of the 4200 block of Lovers Lane, near Milham Park. Due to fading daylight and the need to properly preserve the area, officers secured the scene overnight.

On Nov. 13, detectives and crime lab personnel, working alongside the Medical Examiner’s Office, conducted a detailed search of the area and located skeletal remains.

The remains are believed to be those of a 62-year-old man who had previously been reported missing by family members in the immediate area. His name will not be released until a positive identification is made and his family has been notified.

Circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear. The investigation is in its early stages, and detectives are awaiting autopsy results to help determine the cause and manner of death.
