KDPS Launches Homicide Investigation After Man Found Deceased

Published on January 24, 2025

On January 23, 2025, at approximately 1:32 p.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers responded to a report of an unresponsive male in the 1200 block of E Main St.

Upon arrival, Public Safety Officers located a male victim who was unresponsive. After assessing the situation, officers determined the man was deceased and secured the scene. The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), which began a thorough investigation. Following a detailed review of the evidence and circumstances, detectives determined earlier this morning that the death was a homicide.

The victim has been identified as Jeromey Harvey, 32, of Kalamazoo.

“This is a tragic incident, and our team is working tirelessly to uncover the facts and bring closure to Mr. Harvey’s family,” said Executive Lieutenant Robert Holdwick of the Criminal Investigations Division. “We are committed to ensuring a full and thorough investigation, and we encourage anyone with information to come forward.”

At this time, investigators have determined that this homicide is not connected to the KTC incident that occurred earlier yesterday. The department is also asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the KDPS Criminal Investigations Division at 269-337-8139 or provide information anonymously through the Kalamazoo Silent Observer tip line at 269-343-2100, the “P3Tips” app, or at www.KalamazooSilentObserver.com.
