KDPS Investigating Overnight Shooting That Injured Three

On Sunday, June 7, 2026, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers responded to the 700 block of Trimble Avenue for a report of shots being fired. On scene, officers located a 21-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound.

Shortly after, officers were notified that two additional gunshot victims, a 19-year-old male and a 14-year-old male, arrived at a local hospital via private vehicle. All three victims received medical care. The 19-year-old male is listed in critical condition.

Initial investigation indicates that shots were fired during a large party at a residence in the area. The suspect then fled the area on foot after the shooting. A search warrant was executed at the residence by the Kalamazoo Metro Special Weapons and Tactics
Team, where evidence of the shooting was located. Additionally, a 29-year-old male was arrested on unrelated weapons charges during the incident. He will be arraigned on Monday.
