The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Wednesday morning near the intersection of South Westnedge Avenue and West Cedar Street.
At approximately 2:56 a.m. on June 24, 2026, KDPS officers responded to the area after receiving reports of a person lying in the roadway who had reportedly been struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located a 32-year-old male suffering from severe injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
KDPS detectives and crime scene personnel remained on scene throughout the morning processing evidence and conducting follow-up investigative efforts. Investigators are actively pursuing multiple leads and continue to canvass the area for additional evidence, surveillance footage, and potential witnesses.
