The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) is actively investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred on January 23, 2025, at approximately 10:20 a.m. at the Kalamazoo Transportation Center (KTC).
Officers were dispatched to the KTC in response to reports of a man with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers located a 60-year-old male victim inside the main entrance of the facility. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen but was alert and conscious. He was treated at the scene before being transported to a local area hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and suspect knew each other prior to yesterday’s incident. The investigation then led to a search warrant being executed at a residence nearby in the City of Kalamazoo. Materials obtained during the search are being processed by detectives for additional leads. No arrests have been made at this time.
KDPS investigators continue to work diligently on this case. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the KDPS Criminal Investigations Division at 269-337-8139 or provide information anonymously through the Kalamazoo Silent Observer tip line at 269-343-2100, the “P3Tips” app, or at www.KalamazooSilentObserver.com.
