Published on December 24, 2025
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers responded to a report of a T-bone crash at approximately 1:27 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, at the intersection of Burdick Street and Hutchinson Street.
Upon arrival, officers found two heavily damaged vehicles. One vehicle was occupied by an unresponsive female driver who required extrication. Officers immediately rendered life-saving measures; however, the driver, a 68-year-old woman, was unfortunately pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 19-year-old male, reported shoulder pain and was evaluated for his injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates the female driver had stopped at the intersection of Hutchinson Street and Burdick Street before attempting a southbound turn onto Burdick Street. Before the turn could be completed, a northbound vehicle traveling on Burdick Street struck her vehicle, causing it to flip multiple times.
KDPS extends their condolences to the friends and family of the victim. The crash remains under investigation.
