On November 1, 2026, at approximately 2:21 a.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 1700 block of South Westnedge Avenue following a report of a vehicle striking a building. The driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old female, was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A passenger was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Excessive speed appears to have been a factor.
