On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, a search warrant was executed at an apartment in the 800 block of W. Lovell Street. Bernard Murff Jr., 29, was found in possession of a stolen .45 caliber handgun. Murff Jr., who is currently on federal supervised release for a previous firearm conviction, was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person (two counts), and felony firearm (two counts). He was arraigned by the Honorable Alisa L. Parker-Lagrone on July 25 and was given a $2,500 personal recognizance bond. Despite his PR bond, Murff Jr. is being held on a federal probation violation warrant.
