Kalamazoo, MI: Detectives from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) continue to investigate the early morning shooting that occurred on September 20, 2025. At approximately 3:16 a.m., officers responded to the 2700 block of West Michigan Avenue after reports of shots fired. Four individuals were treated at local hospitals for gunshot injuries, and a fifth was treated for a debris-related injury. All have since been released.
The night of the incident, officers arrested a 23-year-old Battle Creek man for weapons violations and conditional bond violations. He is scheduled to be arraigned on September 23, 2025. Additional charges are expected against other individuals involved, and updates will be provided once charges are authorized.
KDPS has received several Silent Observer tips and is actively pursuing all leads. Investigators are also asking for further assistance from the public. A video of the incident has been circulating on social media in recent days, and KDPS urges the person who recorded it to contact detectives so the original evidence can be obtained.
