KDPS Announces Charges in 2023 Fatal Shooting on Stockbridge Avenue
Published on October 20, 2025
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) announces that charges have been authorized against Raymond C. Moore, Jr., 23, in connection with the 2023 shooting death of 17-year-old Markii Jerrell Robinson.
On June 7, 2023, Markii was walking through an alleyway in the 1100 block of E. Stockbridge Avenue when he was shot and killed in an apparent drive-by shooting. The suspect vehicle was later found burned in the 5500 block of Meadowstone Drive. In August 2023, a 15-year-old male was arrested and adjudicated for third-degree arson related to the vehicle fire.
Through the tireless efforts of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and the continued support of Markii’s family, the Kalamazoo County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney authorized open murder and felony firearm charges against Moore on October 15, 2025.
Moore was taken into custody by members of the Crime Reduction Team on October 17, 2025, and was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Kathleen P. Hemingway on October 20, 2025, where bond was denied.
“This case reflects the power of collaboration—when a determined family and a dedicated investigative team work together, justice becomes even more possible, no matter how much time has passed,” said Captain Danielle Guilds of the Criminal Investigations Division.
