Jaymre Thompson Sentenced in 2024 Homicide

On June 20, 2025, Jaymre Cameron Thompson, 20, of Kalamazoo, was sentenced in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court by Judge Rebecca J. D’Angelo for his role in a 2024 fatal shooting on Interfaith Boulevard.

Sentencing Details:

  • Manslaughter: 10 to 15 years (no credit for time served)
  • Felony Firearm (2 counts): 2 years each, concurrent to each other, consecutive to other charges (279 days credit)
  • Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer: 13 months to 2 years, concurrent with manslaughter, consecutive to firearm charges
  • Restitution & Court Costs: Over $7,700 total

Thompson was convicted in April 2025 after firing multiple shots at an occupied vehicle, one of which fatally struck 53-year-old Mark Jackson inside a nearby apartment. Jackson was visiting family at the time.
