Four Arrested Following Group Assault at Kalamazoo Apartment Complex

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Saint Albans Way following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a 53-year-old man suffering from multiple injuries, including two stab wounds to his back. He was transported to a local hospital, where he received medical treatment and remains in stable condition.
Witnesses at the scene told officers the victim was attacked by a group of individuals who fled before the police arrived. Based on information provided by witnesses, officers made contact at an apartment in the 2200 block of Gull Road, where four individuals were arrested in connection with the incident. The weapon used in the assault was recovered. A search warrant executed at the residence led to the discovery of additional evidence.
The following individuals were arrested and formally charged:
- Lakesha Stacy, 32, was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, tampering with evidence, and assault and battery. She was arraigned on July 31 and given a $15,000 cash/surety bond by the Honorable Becket J. Jones.
- Christopher Battle, 50, was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and assault and battery. He was arraigned on July 31 and given a $15,000 cash/surety bond by the Honorable Becket J. Jones.
- Devondre Stacy, 24, was charged with assault and battery. He was arraigned on July 31 and released on a $500 personal recognizance bond by the Honorable Becket J. Jones.
A 30-year-old woman was also arrested, but the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office temporarily denied charges, and she was released from custody.
