Drug Investigation Results in Crack Cocaine, Firearm Seizure

On June 3rd, 2026, members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) executed a search warrant in the 5300 block of Woodfield Ave, in the Township of Comstock, following an investigation into drug sales.

The suspect of this investigation was contacted in the 2000 block of S Sprinkle Rd and was arrested on an unrelated felony warrant. Following his arrest, the search warrant was executed at his residence.

In all, approximately 1 ½ ounces of crack cocaine, a firearm, evidence of drug sales, and US currency, which is believed to be proceeds of drug sales, was seized.

The 45-year-old male suspect was arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail and will be facing multiple felony charges. The suspect had been recently released from federal prison in 2025 on weapon and drug related offenses and is currently on federal supervised release. On June 4th, 2026, the suspect, identified as Jimmy Renee Cruz Jr, was arraigned in the 8th District Court. He was issued a personal recognizance bond.
