Crime Reduction Team arrests 21-Year-old male with illegal firearm

On August 18, 2026, members of the Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were conducting an investigation for illegal weapons possession at Interfaith Homes. During the investigation, CRT members corroborated information a 21-year-old male, currently on parole and not to be in possession of a firearm, was in possession of a firearm.

KVET, CRT Arrest Armed Suspect Following Foot Pursuit

On August 12th, 2026 at approximately 3:15 p.m., members of the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were in the area of N Westnedge Ave and William Street when a male was observed attempting to conceal a firearm in a backpack. The male is known to CRT investigators and is not legally allowed to possess a firearm.

KDPS Investigates Weekend Shooting

On Sunday, August 16, 2026, at approximately 1 a.m., Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Fox Ridge Drive for reports of multiple shots fired. Shortly afterward, a male called 9-1-1 and reported that he had been shot.
