The Kalamazoo Integrated Dispatch Center hosts dispatchers who serve the City of Kalamazoo, Township of Kalamazoo and County of Kalamazoo.  All three agencies operate using inter-operable Michigan Public Service Commission System (MPSCS) 9-1-1 equipment Kalamazoo Public Safety maintains.  This integration of services has improved and sustained inter-agency communication, emergency operations and been instrumental in coordinating multi-agency investigations resulting in the swift arrest of wanted criminals.

Financial Services Division

The Financial Services Division consists of Financial Services Staff and the Records Bureau. Financial Services staff assists the six Public Safety Divisions with grant and budget preparation, monitoring and reporting, procurement services, liaison with human resources, and coordinates accounts payable and accounts receivable activities. The Records Bureau assists in the FOLIA process, dictates police reports, handles requests for traffic reports, and assists with criminal records checks and firearms licenses, and processes requests for police and fire information from outside agencies and the public.

Dispatch Center Services

The Integrated Dispatch Center is the central control point for public safety 9-1-1 emergency services for the City, Township and County of Kalamazoo.  The Dispatch Center receives and dispatches all KPS police, medical; fire calls for service, and coordinates the deployment of fire apparatus and personnel.

Service Division coordinates Information Management (IM) services for public safety and the Integrated Dispatch Center to ensure that all electronic equipment and applications function as designed and that all end-users have timely access to accurate and relevant information.  In 2009, two (2) IM Senior System Analysts and one (1) Computer CSO maintained software and hardware for Intergraph CAD and I/Leads, Identix Finger Print, Mug Capture, I/Mobile and KDPS Intranet systems in addition to timely crime mapping and crime statistics and end user "tech" support. Information Management also supports the Kalamazoo County Sheriff Department and Kalamazoo Township Police Department and outlying agencies for CAD and RMS and I/Mobile services.

The Kalamazoo Public Safety Records Bureau is staffed by six clerks. Management's "cross-training" of the staff along with the reduction of window service hours enable this section to sustain services to the public and to the department.
