Ada St. Shooting

 

Kalamazoo, MI:  On December 18, 2011 at approximately 7:30 p.m.  Kalamazoo Public Safety received calls reporting shots fired in the area of Ada Street and Burrell Street.  As several officers were responding to the area a citizen reported that a subject had been shot.  The first officers on scene found a 31 year old Kalamazoo resident down on the ground near the intersection.  He had been shot in the extreme lower back.  He was conscious and alert and communicating with the officers.

 

The victim said that he was in the area and heard the gun shots.  He did not see who was doing the shooting.  The next thing he knew was that he was hit by one of the rounds.  He was unable to provide any further details.

 

The victim was transported to Bronson Hospital for treatment and subsequent surgery.  His injuries are not considered life threatening.
